PRECIPITATION HARDENING

Age or Precipitation Hardening (also Aging) is a change in material properties (generally hardening) effected by holding parts at moderately elevated temperatures, without any change in the chemistry of the alloy.

Precipitation hardening has practical applications across the aerospace, automotive, marine, and petrochemical industries.

Precipitation hardening is applied to various metal alloys including aluminum, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and select steels and stainless steels.
