Treatment of a ferrous alloy by heating and maintaining for a certain time above its recrystallization temperature. It is used to refine and homogenize the grain structure while retaining slightly more hardness than with annealing. It is generally performed after forging, hot rolling or casting.

BENEFITS

  • Homogeneity
  • More predictable properties after treatment
  • Cheaper than annealing
  • Machinability

The Horizontal Vacuum Furnace and Vertical Vacuum Furnace series deliver superior performance for normalizing applications requiring a homogenized grain structure.
